We are referred to as the Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Council and are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that has been serving the Greater Houston area since 1871. We are part of the national Society of St. Vincent de Paul network and linked by the common mission to provide person-to-person services that aim to prevent homelessness. There are over 50 parish-based chapters called Conferences that are dedicated to living out the gospel values while addressing poverty in underserved areas. These chapters of 8 to 100+ people put their faith in action by responding to the needs of people in their local community. The Galveston-Houston Council serves as a resource and support system for these Conferences.
The Galveston-Houston Archdiocesan Council serves the needs of Greater Houston's growing community with a Home Visit program to provide rent and utilities assistance, Systemic Change programs to increase education and access to community resources to overcome poverty, a Food Pantry Network, and through education and collaboration with other organizations of goodwill, we widen the reach of our network in order to mobilize positive change for those in need.
Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Galveston-Houston has partnered with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to process donations in the form of real estate assets. Properties in any location, condition, and format are eligible for donation to Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Galveston-Houston. Back taxes, mortgage balances, and deferred maintenance do not prohibit your ability to donate. Our program covers all loans, liens, commissions, and closing costs so long as there is equity in the property.
If you have a land, residential, or commercial real estate asset that is unused or costing you money, consider giving back to the station you love by donating it to Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Galveston-Houston.
